Script: Final Draft

Over the past week we have made amends to our script, we made improvements to our last version, for example, we have added in the different camera shots that will be used and we have made it a little more detailed. Here is our final version:

Obsession final 1

Obsession final 2

Obsession final 3

Now that we have got the final version of our script we will be able to plan more of our film and our script will enable us to know exactly what is happening in our film at different parts.

Script: Software Research

As part of the planning for our film opening we have to create a script and therefore we have to research software to use to create a script. There are many different pieces of software that we can use, some that are fairly cheap, some that are very expensive and some that are free. When we researched into software that we could use, we came across a few that we thought looked good.

We firstly found ‘Abdobe Story’ which would allow us all to collaborate and edit the script at the same time which is essential, however, Abdobe Story Plus would cost us £9.75 a month to use, although there is a free version but it doesn’t contain as many features as the Plus version does, such as the flexible collaboration feature.

We then found ‘Celtx’ which is a free programme that enables us all to edit the script simultaneously and it looks very professional and easy to use. There are advanced versions of the programme that include advanced settings but we would have to pay for them.

Mr Grant suggested the software called ‘Writer Duet’ as we will all be able to edit the software at the same time and it will automatically update so we will be able to edit the script at home rather than having to all do it together at school. When we looked into this software more, we found our that is is completely free and it also looks like a very straight forward and simple piece of software to use and therefore, we will more than likely use this to create our Script.

Script: Initial Research

To find out more about how scripts appear, are layed out and what information they hold, we decided to research into them. We found this annotated picture of a script that explains the different things that are found in this particular script and how they are shown in the form of a script.

I then researched into existing film scripts of well known films to get an idea of what a real life film script looks like and what they contain. I firstly looked at Quentin Tarantino’s film; ‘Kill Bill’ and from this script I found that Quentin Tarantino is very detailed in his script writing and he doesn’t just write what the characters say, he writes about what is happening prior to the dialogue.

I then looked at a piece of the script from ‘The Godfather’ and I found that it was very similar to the script style that Quentin Tarantino used for ‘Kill Bill’ and this shows that the font that is used is the font that is stereotypically used in all scripts.
